About this policy

GoaTime is developed by Scott Grunwald. This policy covers the GoaTime apps for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Vision Pro, and Apple Watch, including their widgets. It explains how the app handles your information and the choices available to you.

Your work and preferences

GoaTime stores the information you enter, such as tasks, projects, subtasks, notes, tags, reminders, client details, billing settings, and time history, on your device. It uses this information to provide planning, timers, reminders, history, analytics, and billing estimates. The Analytics screens calculate summaries from your own records; they are not a third-party analytics or tracking service. App preferences and timer state are stored locally, and selected preferences and onboarding state may also use iCloud key-value storage. A Keychain marker helps prevent onboarding tips from repeating after reinstalling the app.

iCloud synchronization

When iCloud is available for GoaTime, the app uses Apple's CloudKit service to synchronize user records through your private iCloud database across your devices. This sends those records to Apple for storage and synchronization. GoaTime does not operate a separate server that receives a copy of your task database, and your private CloudKit records are not available to the developer through CloudKit Console. Apple provides the account, storage, security, and synchronization services under its own terms and privacy policy.

Calendar access

Calendar access is optional and requested when you choose to connect your calendars. GoaTime reads events from the calendars you select to display them in Agenda. Calendar visibility choices stay on each device, and GoaTime does not copy calendar events into its own CloudKit task database. If you explicitly edit an event, the change is saved through Apple's calendar interfaces to that event's calendar account. You can change calendar access in your device's privacy settings.

Apple Music

On supported platforms, optional focus music uses Apple's MusicKit service after you authorize access. Apple handles music access and playback. GoaTime saves your selected focus-music preference; it does not send your tasks, notes, or client information to a separate music or advertising service. You can disable focus music in GoaTime and manage Music access in your device settings.

Siri, Shortcuts, and Spotlight

When you use GoaTime's system integrations, Apple features can find or act on your GoaTime projects and tasks. GoaTime's searchable entity index is limited to titles, completion/status information, and project or task-parent context. Notes, client names, tags, reminders, and timer descriptions are excluded from that index. Information you provide directly to Siri or Shortcuts is also subject to your Apple settings and Apple's privacy practices.

Apple Watch, widgets, and notifications

The paired Watch companion exchanges timer state, commands, acknowledgments, and relevant task or project context with your iPhone using Apple's WatchConnectivity service. The Watch keeps a local snapshot cache; the iPhone handles timer changes and time-history logging. Apps and widgets share necessary local preferences and state within their device's App Group. Widgets, Live Activities, and notification previews can show task titles or timer context. You can manage their visibility and notification permissions in your device settings. CloudKit also uses Apple's push infrastructure to notify devices of changes.

Reports and sharing

Billing estimates are generated as PDF files on your device. When you save or share a report, the destination or recipient you choose receives its contents, which may include client, project, and time information. Temporary report files are kept in the app's cache; the app removes files older than one day when its report-cache cleanup runs. Copies you export or share remain wherever you save or send them, subject to the destination's own practices.

Tracking, diagnostics, and support

GoaTime does not include advertising, cross-app tracking, data-broker integrations, or third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, and the developer does not sell your personal information. Apple may process service diagnostics, app analytics, or crash information according to your device and App Store/TestFlight settings and Apple's privacy practices. If you choose to email the developer or share a bug report, the information you send is used to respond and investigate the issue. Please avoid including unnecessary sensitive information in support requests.

Retention, deletion, and your choices

Your local and iCloud records remain until you remove them using GoaTime's available deletion controls or Apple's storage-management controls. Deletions of synced records propagate as iCloud synchronization completes. Removing the app from a device does not by itself delete its iCloud data, exported reports, or information already shared with others. Some preferences and the onboarding Keychain marker can survive reinstallation. You can review and edit your records in GoaTime, manage iCloud storage and app permissions through Apple settings, and contact the developer for help understanding the available deletion controls. The developer cannot directly retrieve or delete records in your private iCloud database on your behalf. Support messages are retained as needed to respond to the request and meet applicable obligations; contact the developer to request deletion of information you sent directly.

Changes and contact

This policy may be updated when GoaTime's features or data practices change. The date above identifies this version. For privacy questions or requests about information you have sent directly to the developer, contact Scott Grunwald at sgrunwald@gmail.com.
